FAQ

  • How does Oakland CSA work?

A CSA is a subscription-based model where customers receive fresh produce directly from local farmers.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Farming comes with risks and this is one way for the community to share that inherent risk with the ones growing their food.

In a traditional CSA model, customers pay up front for 12 weeks of seasonal produce - paying up front helps our local farmers carry the burden of cost early on in the season. In exchange, the customers receive weekly boxes of fresh, local, seasonal produce fresh off the farm.

In an effort to make our weekly boxes accessible to everyone in the community, we have decided to use a pay as you go model for the Fall 2025 season.

  • What types of produce and goods are available?

We are proud to offer a wide variety of seasonal produce, but cannot guarantee crops.

Crops planted for the Fall 2025 include (but are not limited to) broccoli, cauliflower, beets, turnips, radishes, carrots, Swiss chard, bok choy, spinach, lettuces, salad mix, potatoes, sweet potatoes, leeks, kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, and Napa cabbage.

In addition to weekly boxes, we also have a dairy share program as well as weekly box add ons (eggs, cheese, and baked goods).

  • Can I customize my box?

Oakland CSA is a traditional CSA - as the folks at the farm like to say, the box is the box.  You can add extra produce, as well as eggs, cheese, baked, and canned goods, but the contents of the box are set and published weekly.

If you prefer to pick and choose your produce, you can contact us about the availability of crops or shop our online store.  Please note:  some crops are box exclusives and not available for purchase separately.

  • Do you offer delivery?

At this writing, we do not offer delivery, but we hope to be able to start bringing our delicious produce to your doorstep soon!

In the meantime, we think visiting the farm is part of the joy of joining Oakland CSA. How often do you get to visit a working Amish farm?
